Aberdeen

Aberdeen, on the south side of Hong Kong Island, used to be home to thousands of fisherfolk living on their fishing junks in the harbor. Now, however, the harbor is home to only hundreds, with most residents living in unsightly high-rises. Luxury yachts are more common than fishing boats.

Still, Aberdeen remains a major tourist destination, primarily for its sampan (water taxi) tours that take visitors past the remaining fishing junks and nearby Ocean Park with its aquariums, pandas, and thrill rides.
