Kids & Families

Nara, Japan

Japan is safe and clean - so excellent for travel with children, whether they be tots or teens.

Travelling around Japan

Travel on trains is free for children under 6 and half-price between the ages of 6 and 11.

A rental car is a good option for families outside of the major cities - much easier for keeping kids and luggage under control.

Japan’s luggage delivery system can be helpful too.

Staying & eating

It may be easier to stay at minshuku or ryokan, where a whole family can stay in one large tatami room with a number of futon.

Some hotels have triple rooms, but you may be looking at booking multiple rooms.

Family restaurants are everywhere in Japan, with simple food at good prices.
