The Saadian Tombs
Mausoleum of the last Marrakesh-based dynasty - قبور السعديين
The ornately decorated Saadian Tombs were walled off and forgotten until rediscovered by an aerial survey in 1917, They're the last resting place of sultans from the Saadian dynasty, who ruled Morocco from Marrakesh 1554–1659. There are over 200 tombs here.
After buying your ticket, you go through a narrow alley and emerge into a garden. The main tombs are immediately to your left, on the west side of the enclosure.
First chamber (mihrab hall)
The first chamber, or mihrab hall, was originally just a prayer room, but now has a large number of tombs in it, marked by zellij tiles in the floor.
