Dar Si Said

Carpet & textile museum in lovely old mansion - دار السي سعيد

03 Marrakech - Musee Dar Si Said -32

Truth is, Dar Si Said is a museum in search of something to exhibit, and having previously housed a collecion of historical artifacts, it's now a museum of carpets and textiles.

A late nineteenth-century mansion, Dar Si Said belonged to a son of Si Moussa, owner of the Bahia Palace, and the building here, with its fine stucco, painted ceilings and pretty courtyard, is at least as interesting as its exhibits.

Ornate Ceilings, Dar si Said, Marrakech, Morocco-1

If you're interested in carpets, the collection of antique rugs will wow you, with the bonus that no-one's trying to sell you one. There are also exhibits on how carpets are made, and as one of Marrakesh's less frequented sights, it's calm and peaceful to visit.
