Eating on Jemaa side-streets

Chez Bahia

There are lots of good, cheap restaurants in the streets around the Jemaa el Fna.

Rue Bani Marine has some very good budget restaurants, including Oscar Progrès and El Bahja.

Just down Rue Riad Zitoun el Kedim is Chez Bahia, and a little bit further, Henna Art Café.

Off the square's northeastern branch, Mechoui Alley is the cheapest and most authentic place to try tanjia and mechoui (check the review to see what those are). At the top of that branch of the square is Café Kessabine, and a right here, along Rue Dabbachi, will take you to Chez Brahim.

Fine dining is less easy to come by. The nearest good restaurant is Le Tobsil, which isn't too far away. If you're prepared to go just a little bit further afield, there's Pepe Nero.

The nearest good patisserie to the square is Patisserie des Princes.
