Montreal Botanical Garden
World-class themed gardens & events
Though huge, Montreal’s giant Botanical Garden is only part of Maisonneuve Park, an even larger area of greenery that hugs the entire northwest boundary of The Olympic Park.
Established in 1931 the gardens are among the world’s biggest with 10 exhibition greenhouses; 30 thematic outdoor gardens; and an Insectarium (separate ticket), which celebrates bugs of all shapes and sizes (most thankfully dead and mounted!).
Seasons & Events
The seasons are important here with spring blooms and fragrances to enjoy, but there are dozens more year-round special events too.
Key events include the Butterflies Go Free when thousands of butterflies flutter around a greenhouse and the fall Magic of Lanterns festival when hundreds of imported silk lanterns illuminate the Chinese Gardens.
