Montreal Biosphere

Geodesic green living

055 Biosphere Montreal Canada 3093

The eye-catching geodesic sphere at the centre of Jean Drapeau Park was originally the American Pavilion for Expo 67, and the work of acclaimed American architect and futurist Buckminster Fuller (@wikipedia). Certainly the building alone is worth a closer look even if you are just passing by.

Meanwhile its interior is now occupied by Biosphere, a family-orientated environmental museum devoted to climate change and green living. Fun interactive exhibits let you do things like “walk” on water, while the Biosphere’s Ecoological (sic) House, showcases a completely “green” solar house designed by local college students.

Note: Don’t confuse the Biosphere with Montreal’s Biodome – they’re two different museums.
