Loch Fyne Oyster Bar (Argyll)

Upmarket bistro & deli in an old lochside barn (b,l; ££)

First, there were oysters.

Loch Fyne is famous for seafood, particularly Oysters, and one of the best places to sample them is the popular Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, 6 miles from Inveraray on the A83 to Glasgow.

Here seasonal menus are based on a philosophy of producing simple textures and flavours, to allow the quality and freshness of the food to do the talking.

Venison, lamb, lobster and smoked fish are usually key choices; don't miss the breakfast kippers. There's always good Fish & Chips too.

Then there was lobster.

The presence of a separate deli counter is helpful if you're looking for local seafood treasures to go.
