Kinloch Lodge
Family-run Michelin-starred hotel in idyllic spot (b,l,d; £££)
Listed as one of the world's top 25 small hotels by Conde Naste Traveller Magazine, this is a smart, traditional and above all very Scottish place.
It’s on the pretty tranquil shores of a sea loch while inside it’s all warm informal atmosphere, blazing log fires and country-style bedrooms with views.
As a popular retreat, the hotel has an expert therapist in Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Herbalism; yet the hotel’s real strength is in cookery.
Food
The owner is a published cookery writer and runs courses in cooking rustic food, while, resident head-chef Marcello Tully concentrates on excellence at the other end of the scale. His Michelin-starred menu changes daily and uses local produce. Lunches cost around £45; Afternoon tea £26. Dinner is served between 6.30pm and 9pm and consists of five courses for £95 per person
