Transport

York Train Bus

Places in central York is accessible on foot, including from the railway station. Many areas within the city walls are pedestrianised with restrictions on daytime vehicle access.

As York is fairly flat, cycling is a fairly popular option for local people,

Frequent electric Park+Ride buses serve various points in the city from several car parks on the approach roads.

Locally, there are bus services, and more expensively, taxis and private hire cars are an option.

Connections to destinations beyond York are by bus. Coastliner buses link York with the coast and Leeds. Zap buses provide an express service to Leeds.

The nearest airport is Leeds-Bradford, though there are no direct links from York except by taxi or private hire car. (Reckon on around £50 for the single journey.) There are direct rail links from York to Manchester airport, with the journey taking about 1hr 50min.
