Branscombe Village & Beach
Thatched village & sweeping beach
Just three miles west of the much bigger village of Beer, in Branscombe you get two scenic environments in one.
Branscombe Village
Branscombe village is made picturesque by rows of thatched cottages, the Norman tower of elegant St Winifred’s church and the 16th century Forge – the oldest thatched working forge in the country.
It also has the great Mason’s Arms pub.
Branscombe Beach
A few minute’s walk away down the hill sits the expansive beach at Branscombe Mouth. The shingle here stretches for more than a mile and is backed by a cafe, beach huts and crumbling cliffs.
Walks
Branscombe is a magnet for hikers. The 6 mile circular walk from Beer leads along the heavily eroded chalky Hooken Cliffs and around Beer Head.
