Sandringham Estate
Historic royal house, gardens & woodland trails
This is King Charles III’s Norfolk home, and has been owned by the monarch for over a century. Located just north of Kings Lynn, it is surrounded by gorgeous countryside with lots of walking opportunities within the grounds.
It is a nice place to spend a few hours. Follow waymarked trails by foot, by bike or take your dog around Sandringham woodland and parkland.
There is also an orienteering trail available.
There is a lovely play area for children within the parkland. Within the house you can explore some of the ground floor rooms used by the Royal family when in residence, and see items that have been given as gifts when on state visits.
There is even an old fashioned fire engine in the little museum.
Restaurant and shops in the Courtyard complex separate from Sandringham House.
Children’s playground near the Courtyard complex.
Luminate
Special events are often held, especially in November/December when the spectacular Luminate festival creates a magical, enchanting, illuminated night time trail through the woods complete with fairies and rivers of lights.
Public access to the ground floor and the formal gardens is available between April-October. Pre-book or pay on the day to visit the House and Gardens. Bear in mind they may be closed if members of the Royal Family are in residence.
Access to the woodland and parkland is available all year.
Special events like Luminate have to be pre-booked.
