Norwich is a great city for foodies. Wherever you go within the city, there are lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs catering for all tastes including ethnic, Vegan and fine dining.
High streets names like McDonalds are well represented in the city centre, as are numerous fast food outlets in the two shopping centres: Castle Quarter and Chantry Place.
Head for the Market close to the Forum to find a wide range of food stalls offering good quality street food at reasonable prices. Typical offerings include fish & chips, Churros, Falafel, Italian, Chinese and Indian as well as patisserie.
Explore the nearby Lanes area contains many independent outlets offering a wide range of food including pancakes, pizza and traditional tea rooms. The Jarrolds department store has a good selection of cafes to suit all price ranges, including speciality sections focusing on seafood. The Briton Arms on Elm Hill is the only thatched roof coffee house restaurant in the city, and even starred in the film Stardust.
If you are looking for more high-end and unusual experiences, again the Lanes offer a good source of food outlets such as the Belgian Monk or closer to the Forum, the Assembly Rooms have a fantastic tea-room well known for its afternoon teas which are sometimes themed.
The Maids Head close to the Cathedral claims to be one of the oldest pubs in the country, and offers accommodation as well as high quality restaurant meals.
Trains run to Norwich from London Liverpool Street, also via Cambridge. Norwich is approximately 117miles from London via the M11 and A11.
