Art

Edinburgh Cow Parade 05-2006

Art lovers can rejoice in Edinburgh, which boasts several of Scotland's finest national collections.

These have a little of something for everyone too, from Old Masters of the National Gallery of Scotland, through quirkier pieces at the National Portrait Gallery, to more recent work at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.

Other galleries around Edinburgh are best for contemporary pieces, with the Fruitmarket Gallery among the best.

Then if you have the time for a day trip outside the city, don't miss Jupiter Artland where modern and contemporary art runs wild amid landscaped gardens and woodlands.

Finally, don't forget The Writers’ Museum, a small tribute to a city that can quite justifiably market itself as a City of Literature, and promote several associated tours and events.
