Kids & Families
Croatia is a welcoming place for kids, with a culture that celebrates the family and a Mediterranean lifestyle that positively encourages kids to run around until late at night.
Eating out
Restaurants are generally child-friendly and will do their best to accommodate families - although this doesn’t always mean that they’ll be equipped with high chairs. Beware however that many restaurants focused on quality cuisine might not have anything on the menu that kids will want to eat – sticking to moderate eateries that cater for local families is often your best bet.
Accommodation
Owners of apartments and BnBs will also try and accommodate your needs, although cots and children’s beds are not always available (the child bed often turns out to be the pull-out sofa).
Beaches
Time on Croatian beaches is likely to be central to most family holidays, However there’s a growing range of specifically family-oriented attractions, and a growing tendency of mainstream museums to offer children’s content in their exhibitions. Relatively new institutions like the Museum of Neanderthals in Krapina, Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales, Ogulin in Ogulin, the Faust Vrančić Memorial Centre on Prvić, and the fortresses of Šibenik, offer an exemplary mix of education and entertainment.
