Sheringham
Seaside town
A small coastal town with narrow streets that gets very crowded in summer with tourists heading down to the Blue Flag beach. Visitors have been coming to Sheringham for over a century, drawn by the shingle and sand beach, and good coastal walks.
There are lifeguards on duty May to September between the East & West promenades. Beach huts can be hired.
If you fancy a walk, take a stroll along the coast and climb Beeston Bump - a 103m high grassy hill dating back to the Ice Age. The North Norfolk Coastal Path passes through Sheringham.
Sheringham is on the Deep History Coast Discovery Trail and has its own discovery point which can be accessed, providing information about the prehistoric remains that have been found along the coast.
A selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants mainly serving visitors and the local area can be found in the town centre, less than five minutes walk from the promenade.
Nearby places of interest include Sheringham Park and North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line).
Parking can be difficult, you need to park away from the beach area and walk. There is no parking on the promenade.
There are trains from Norwich.
