Vintage Railways

East Anglia has numerous vintage railways offering the opportunity to experience the magic of smoky steam trains passing through the countryside, traditional diesel hauled trains, narrow guage lines as well as miniature rail services. These heritage lines also have small museums attached, and frequently cafes. It can be very atmospheric travelling on these historic trains. The North Norfolk Railway was used extensively in the filming of the iconic Dad’s Army TV series. Special events such as Santa Specials or 1940’s weekends are often held.
