New Town Sights

Edinburgh

Though a good six-hundred years younger, Edinburgh's New Town is second only to the Old Town in terms of sights. For first-timers, a good way in is to follow the New Town In-A-Day itinerary.

Princes Street & Around

Though it was never quite intended that way, the shopping and transport hub of The New Town is Princes Street, which Glasgwegians like to mock for only being half a street.

Yes, it's only really built up on one side, but that provides stunning views of the Old Town, while adjacent wonderful public gardens lie in the atmospheric shadow of Edinburgh Castle. With a little space to play with, Princes Street is also developed as a key spot for some great monuments and buildings, including the Walter Scott Monument and the National Gallery of Scotland, the city's tour-de-force of Old Masters.
