Cycling

Glen Affric XC - Athnamulloch

For all its reputation for cold and wet weather Scotland is a world-class destination for cyclists of all types.

Anyone who can cycle can rent a bike and enjoy the options at Loch Katrine, the Old Man of Hoy and Glentress but those with a taste for a particular style of riding will also find plenty of options.

Mountain Biking

Over the past couple of decades a surge in interest and funding for mountain biking has resulted in the creation of some dozen dedicated mountain bike centres dotted around Scotland - many lie in the Southern Uplands where the key center is Glentress.

In the Highlands fat-tyre fans should also make for Laggan and the Nevis Range – the latter has the Scotland's best lift-accessed downhill trails too, though the options at Glencoe aren't far behind.
