Hiking

Hiking (‘bushwalking’ in the local vernacular) is a popular pursuit in Australia and you’ll find exceptional hiking trails across the country, including in and around major cities. Trails vary from low-impact strolls close to car parks and amenities to rugged, multi-day adventures like Tasmania’s legendary Overland Track.

Due to Australia’s different climate zones, ideal hiking seasons vary across the country. That said, summer can be stiflingly hot across much of the continent, with the added risk of bushfires.

You’ll find general safety information and useful links on the Bushwalking Australia website.
