Kids & Families

Scotland can be a superb family destination even though some of its most famous draws, particularly whisky and golf, are of no interest to kids, and the unreliable weather can put a damper on the outdoors.

Certainly the country has its share of family attractions (below), so keeping kids entertained in that way should be no problem.

Also scan the Castles section too: most kids love clambering around and letting their imaginations run amok. Battlefield visitor centres such as the ones at Culloden Moor and Bannockburn are also often a hit, for similar reasons.

These and most of Scotland's really popular attractions like the National Museum of Scotland go out of their way to provide for kids. Other museums, like the Glasgow Science Centre specifically targets kids.
