York In-A-Day

A day in the capital of "God's own county"

You have only one day in York? You don’t have time to plan your own itinerary? Yet you want to get an impression of the place?

This typical one-day itinerary should help you with suggestions. But remember, though York features oodles of official attractions, the biggest attraction is the city itself.

So when you think about what you might do, budget extra time to explore an interesting snickelway you might stumble upon, or browse shops at or linger over a pub lunch…

If you are arriving at the station, turn left out of the main entrance and walk alongside the city walls, over Lendal Bridge and past the Tourist Information Centre towards the Minster.

Shambles

Morning

Tour the Minster Area by starting with a look at the Minster Exterior and taking the Official Minster Tour.
